The Magic

Jez has been learning and performing magic since the age of 6 when he saw a trick being taught on the back of a cereal packet, and he still performs this little miracle today.

He is proficient with a pack of cards, and can perform all sorts of close-up/sleight-of-hand tricks with his own style and humour that will amaze and intrigue all age groups.

Everything Jez will show you can be performed with everyday objects from elastic bands to cups and balls.

The Mentalism

As the years went by Jez wondered where magic was going, he figured that the old-style of 'box' illusions where becoming less popular and wanted to start learning something more real.

Jez then discovered the art of reading minds and using the predictability of human behaviour to entertain crowds. With lots of research into psychology, NLP and hypnosis he now has a wide variety of effects and experiments that show how the mind works and how to gather information from peoples thoughts.

From experiments on Memory, Personality Tests, and Intuition to demonstrations of Influence and Susceptibility, Group Conciousness, and Mind-Over-Matter. Jez promises fun and intelligent shows that will entertain, enlighten and educate.

Escapology

Jez has fond memories as a child going to the circus. He recalls how he remembers seeing the clowns being hilarious tripping and falling over, narrowly avoiding swinging ladders, and jugglers juggling balls, rings, and clubs. This led Jez to be a fan of such circus skills and in his miss-spent youth he practised juggling, unicycling, and 'slack-line walking' (like tight-rope but slack), and when he was 18 he had the opportunity to become a clown for a few months for a large holiday complex.

Still a fan of circus performers he wanted to perform something that was very visual, something that was an 'art', a crowd puller, so he bought himself a genuine 1970's Strait-Jacket and since then has been learning the art of escapology!

Whether it's the Strait-Jacket, locks and chains or 100 feet of rope, Jez will put on a brave face and attempt to escape these things for your entertainment!

The Bizarre

Most people have beliefs, hobbies and interests that they may think are pretty odd or strange. But Jez has an interest that he knows is, literally, out of this world!

Jez considers himself to be a collector of curios and has accumulated a fine range of bizarre items with some very curious backgrounds.

His most famous item is The Thirteenth Box, a Dybbuk box that contains a Jewish demon known as a Dybbuk, and is possibly only the 2nd known about Dybbuk box in the world. The first of which inspired the 2012 Sam Raimi movie 'The Possession'.

On special occasions (Halloween) Jez is known to bring out The Thirteenth Box for the public to see and to witness the strange nature of a Dybbuk. The show revolves around the box and the artefacts that belong to it. You will hear the true story of the 1st Dybbuk box, plus the history of The Thirteenth Box, the story of it's original owners untimely death, and you will see first-hand what a Dybbuk is capable of.

Jez also is available for private hire, whether that's with the Dybbuk box, or a private show on 'Psychic' entertainment.

Bio - Jez Starr

Jez Starr, magician and mentalist, started his journey in to the world of 'magic' at the young age of 6 when he discovered his Grandparents and Great Grandparents beliefs of psychic mediumship.

Witnessing apparent miracles, and seeing mediums/psychics most weekends, this young boy got hooked on the idea of getting the supernatural/paranormal/magick to work for him!

During his teen-aged years, this idea had been put on hold as his own views and beliefs began to mature. And now, instead of going to places to witness unusual scenes, he started to learn some of these skills and techniques himself. This way, wherever he was, something unusual could always happen!

The older he got the more serious he became about these techniques and started to study them more deeply.
- 14 years of studying magic
- 10 years studying mentalism (including hypnosis and other psychological techniques)

Now in his adulthood, he fuses these techniques together to create fun, lively and energetic shows, specifically for adults. He also puts on the occasional 'Spooky' show for Halloween, and other special times through-out the year, where anything could happen!

His shows include experiments and demonstration of; Verbal and Non-Verbal Communication, Influence, Suggestion, Intuition, Intention, and other psychological techniques. He uses these to look in to ideas such as; Group Conciousness, Personality Tests, Mind-Reading, Mind-Control and Mind Over Matter.

Other topics that Jez will demonstrate include; Pendulum Dowsing, Remote Viewing, Spirit Writing, Paranormal Photographs, Haunted/Cursed Furniture, Voodoo (Voodou) and Psychokinesis. During his shows he will sometimes even teach spectators to use these techniques and puts them to the test!
